About Leadership New Zealand
Our Vision and Values…
For New Zealand to succeed as a nation, it is important to create a culture of leadership in New Zealand. The development of talented leaders from all walks of life is critical to the development of our organisations and society.
There is a growing awareness for a leadership model necessary to promote collective vision and strategic process, to work in an environment of partnership which is created and nourished by the community, is transformational and innovative in nature, and is based on trust.
Our vision is to evolve that leadership model by enhancing the quality of our future leaders and building a culture of leadership in New Zealand.
Our values are to be courageous, visionary, generous of spirit, inclusive, apolitical, to have integrity, to be innovative, and to celebrate diversity.
Our History...
Leadership New Zealand was created in 2004 by a small group of New Zealand leaders who felt there was a need to increase the depth and breadth of leadership in New Zealand. They saw the opportunity to identify and bring together leaders from across every sector of society, connect them with the experiences of our country's prominent and nation shaping leaders and facilitate cross-sector, community wide conversations.
Tomorrow's leaders must be able to listen carefully, network effectively and appreciate the different perspectives which individuals bring to discussions. They must have an in depth knowledge of themselves and of others around them, and an ability for reflection.
Leadership involves making the connections between what individuals and organisations do, with an understanding of how those actions impact upon our society. It is the synergy created by these connections and these perspectives that bring innovation and new thinking.
Leadership New Zealand first launched it's Leadership Programme in 2005 and five years on, after encouraging some 140 New Zealanders on their leadership journey, we now seek to reflect on how to continue our own journey.
Our Reflection... and Strategic Direction
On the 11th December 2009, we came together as the authors of the Leadership New Zealand vision and guides for the next Leadership New Zealand paths to be travelled.
